ABOUT CLIMATE CHANGE

Climate change is one of the greatest threats facing humanity. Irrefutable evidence from around the world - extreme weather events, record temperatures, retreating glaciers, and rising sea levels – all point to the fact that climate change is happening now. And the overwhelming majority of scientists agree that human activity is responsible.

So, the good news is that there are many ways to take action against it. Some of the best are to learn more, make Earth-friendly choices, and educate others. If we all work together, making big and small changes in our everyday lives, we really do help protect the planet.

Some simple things you can do right now:

1

Maximize your energy efficiency.

  • Seal up drafts and insulate everywhere.
  • Switch to CFLs (compact fluorescent light bulbs).
  • Turn off things when you’re not using them.
2

Diet for a healthy planet and a healthy you.

  • Eat locally-grown foods.
  • Go meat-free.
  • Garden organically.
  • Protect yourself from harmful UV rays.
3

Move around smarter.

  • Use transit, carpool, bike or walk.
  • Drive a fuel-efficient vehicle or join a car co-op.
  • Shrink the distances in your daily life - choose a home close to your job, and support services in your neighborhood.
4

Stay informed and get involved.

  • Create change in your community.
  • Let political representatives know where you stand on environmental issues.
  • Contact the media.
  • Get involved and help raise funds to support your causes – yes, just like Ryan!
